Junkyard Beauties

This series of images happened rather by accident. I was out on the junkyard side of town to talk to the guys at the radiator shop to see how much I could get mine fixed for. Rather than going straight home, I thought I'd go see the sights out on junkyard row, out by the speedway. When I got there, I was astounded to find that of the half-dozen or so vintage junkyards, there was only one left. The remainder had transformed into blank slates of nicely graded earth. This was especially bad news for me, because I had a parts car stored at one.

I spent an hour or so grabbing these images and talking to the workers. It's unlikely that this place will be around much longer either. It's unfortunate, because there really aren't many places to see old rusting American steel like this any more. Even more unfortunate is that the parts market shrinks a little bit more each year, and keeping old cars on the road becomes more of a challenge.

These images were all shot digital and then edited using Photoshop and/or Picasa.
Jalopnik.com did a little story on these pictures as well.
